By Air

Ann Arbor is located 28 miles west of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) . The following airlines use the modern McNamara terminal: Northwest, Continental, Lufthansa, British Airways, Delta, KLM, Royal Jordanian). The rest (Air Canada, American, America West, Frontier, Independence, Southwest, Spirit, United, US Airways) use the older Smith terminal.

The best method of getting to Ann Arbor from the airport is a shuttle service, costing around $40 round-trip. It takes around 30-45 minutes.

Taking a taxi ($50 one-way) from the airport will shave 5-10 minutes off the trip. Reservations for shuttle services should be made several days prior to arrival.

By Rail

Ann Arbor is serviced by Amtrak on their Chicago-Detroit route. Trains arrive three times daily. Taxis are available at the train station, which is eight blocks north of the University of Michigan's Central Campus.

By Bus

Greyhound serves Ann Arbor, dropping off downtown (Main St and Huron), about a 10-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the University of Michigan's Central Campus.

By Car

There are numerous pay parking garages around campus as well as the Park and Ride system of remote lots with regular bus service.

Parking

If you'll be staying at the Campus Inn or the Bell Tower Hotel, both adjacent to central campus, they offer complimentary valet parking during your stay until 5 p.m. on your day of checkout.

If you're staying at the Holiday Inn, which is a bit farther away from central campus, you can leave your car there and take their free shuttle bus to campus.

Otherwise your best bets are U-M's Palmer Drive parking structure ($1.10 per hour) or the public parking structures on Maynard Street (between William and Liberty) or on South Forest (between South U. and Hill). Parking at the public facilities is $0.95 per hour.
